Landscaping

Exterior work rarely stops at the wall. When siding, windows or an addition change the outside of a house, the ground around it usually has to be put back — or finally done properly. We plan hardscape, planting and outdoor living space as part of the project rather than as an afterthought once the crews have gone.

Landscaping — example of the work

Scope

What the work involves

Hardscape

Paths, patios, paving, steps and retaining walls, set out so drainage runs away from the house rather than towards it.

Outdoor living

Built-in seating, outdoor kitchens, fire features and shade structures, detailed to match the materials used on the house.

Planting and lawn

Beds, lawn and planting laid out around how you actually use the yard, and chosen for the water you want to spend on it.

Grading and drainage

Getting water away from foundations and hardscape. It is the least visible part of a yard and the one that causes the most damage when it is wrong.

How it works

From first call to final walkthrough

  1. 01

    Talk it through

Tell us what you want to change. We ask the questions that decide the price before anyone comes out.

  2. 02

    Define the scope

We measure, check what is behind the walls where we can, and put the work in writing — what is included and what is not.

  3. 03

    Build it

A scheduled crew, a sequence you can follow, and a clean site at the end of each working day.

  4. 04

    Final walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you and close out anything on the list before we call it done.

Questions

Before you call

Do you take landscaping on its own?

We plan and build landscaping as part of a project on the house. Where the work calls for a specialty landscaping contractor, that trade is carried by a licensed subcontractor — we tell you who is doing what before you sign.

Can you match the hardscape to the house?

That is the point of doing both together. Materials, colour and trim are chosen against the siding and windows rather than picked from a separate catalogue.

What about irrigation and lighting?

Both are handled through the appropriately licensed trades. We coordinate them into the schedule so nothing is trenched twice.
